Stewardship means noticing that a public space changes who can safely participate in it.
Hosts and facilitators cannot control every interaction, but they can design for clarity: accessible information, known points of contact, reporting boundaries, behaviour expectations, and a considered response when someone says a boundary was crossed.
Information is part of access
State the purpose of the gathering, the relevant rules, the accessibility information available, and the limits of confidentiality before people arrive. A surprise is not a test of belonging.
Care is not surveillance
Do not ask attendees to disclose more than the event needs. Keep public logistics separate from sensitive information, and avoid retaining personal details simply because a form made collection easy.
